The UK\u2019s competition regulator is launching an in-depth investigation of Facebook\u2019s $400m (\u00a3290m) acquisition of the gif creation website Giphy<\/a> over fears that it could lead to a squeeze on the supply of gifs to other social networks such as Snapchat, TikTok and Twitter.<\/p>\n

The Competition and Markets Authority<\/a> (CMA) said on Thursday it was concerned that the takeover may \u201cresult in a substantial lessening of competition\u201d for gif creation in the UK and other markets.<\/p>\n
