The Oppenheimer<\/a> director, Christopher Nolan, has highlighted the difficulties of applying nuclear weapons-style regulation to artificial intelligence, as he warned that the United Nations had become a \u201cvery diminished\u201d force.<\/p>\n

Nolan told the Guardian J Robert Oppenheimer\u2019s call for international control of nuclear weapons had \u201csort of come true\u201d, but there had nonetheless been extensive proliferation of the technology since the \u201cfather of the atomic bomb\u201d led the Manhattan project in the second world war.<\/p>\n
