The same can\u2019t be said for many articles from News Corp, which is reportedly <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/media\/2023\/aug\/01\/news-corp-ai-chat-gpt-stories?cid=8a0499c228f09f771741fdd99bd5f85e\">using generative AI<\/a> to produce 3,000 Australian news stories per week. It isn\u2019t alone. Media corporations around the world are increasingly using AI to generate content.<\/p>\n<p>By now, I hope it\u2019s common knowledge that large language models such as GPT-4 do not produce facts; rather, they predict language. We can think of ChatGPT as an <a href=\"https:\/\/futurism.com\/artificial-intelligence-automated-mansplaining-machine\">automated mansplaining machine<\/a> \u2013 often wrong, but always confident. Even with assurances of human oversight, we should be concerned when material generated this way is repackaged as journalism.
