But if people don\u2019t trust it, they\u2019ll opt out \u2013 I know, because I felt I had to<\/p>\n<p>Last December, I had an abortion. Most unwanted pregnancies set a panic-timer ticking, but I was almost counting down the seconds until I had to catch a flight from London, where I live, to Texas, where I grew up, and where the provision of abortion care was recently <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/us-news\/2022\/aug\/25\/us-abortion-trigger-bans-laws-tennessee-texas-idaho\" title=\"\">made a felony<\/a>. You bleed for a while after most abortions, and I was still bleeding when I boarded the plane home for Christmas.<\/p>\n<p>Going to Texas so soon after the procedure made me consider where the record of my abortion \u2013 my health data \u2013 would end up.
