In a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/publications\/ai-regulation-a-pro-innovation-approach\/white-paper\">white paper titled<\/a> \u201cA pro-innovation approach to AI regulation\u201d the secretary of state for science, innovation and technology described the many benefits and opportunities she believed the technology to hold and explained the government\u2019s decision to take a \u201cprinciples-based approach\u201d to regulating it.
