The photographer noticed this \u2018humble story\u2019 playing out silently on a visit to the Tate Modern in London<\/p>\n

In the Turbine Hall at Tate Modern in London, Gerry McCulloch and his wife, Kaori, were\u00a0buying tickets for a Yayoi Kusama exhibition. \u201cI happened to turn around and catch a\u00a0glimpse of this unidentifiable figure,\u201d he says. \u201cAmong thousands of visitors from around the globe, it tickled me that this humble story was playing out silently in an unnoticed corner.\u201d<\/p>\n

As well as being a photographer, McCulloch is a visual storytelling coach, and in his own creative practice his mantra is \u201cidentify, clarify, simplify, amplify\u201d. This image, he says, demonstrates each of these components. The opaque quality of the window helps exclude extraneous elements and draws the viewer in to what he calls \u201cthe mystery of the moment\u201d.<\/p>\n
