To hear some MPs talk about Beijing\u2019s espionage activities, you would think gunboats were already on their way.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, it is malicious and hurtful for a foreign state patently to hack into Britain\u2019s Electoral Commission and target senior parliamentarians \u2013 as the government on Monday <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/technology\/2024\/mar\/25\/cyber-attacks-china-uk\">claimed China did in 2021<\/a>. It is equally malicious to fabricate MPs\u2019 emails and use a Commons researcher as an informant.
