A woman whose 14-year-old son killed himself is calling for parents to be given the legal right to access their child\u2019s social media accounts to help understand why they died.<\/p>\n

Ellen Roome has gathered more than 100,000 signatures on a petition calling for social media companies to be required to hand over data to parents after a child has died.<\/p>\n

In the UK, the youth suicide charity Papyrus<\/a> can be contacted on 0800 068 4141 or email pat@papyrus-uk.org<\/a>, and in the UK and Ireland Samaritans<\/a> can be contacted on freephone 116 123, or email jo@samaritans.org<\/a> or jo@samaritans.ie<\/a>. In the US, the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline<\/a> is at 988 or chat for support. You can also text HOME to 741741 to connect with a crisis text line counselor.
