It was a specific type of show: too many talking heads, complicated overlapping dialogue and, until recently, no transcription. \u201cThose I\u2019m just so lost on because there\u2019s just too much going on at once,\u201d Shelburne says. She couldn\u2019t follow along, so she couldn\u2019t discuss the show with her friends. \u201cPodcasts are such a big part of pop culture and media at this point. I want to be able to be a part of that conversation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Weekly podcast listenership in the United States has more than quadrupled in the past decade, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pewresearch.org\/journalism\/fact-sheet\/audio-and-podcasting\/\">Pew Research<\/a>.
