Justices hear arguments after app\u2019s Chinese-based parent company ByteDance asked justices to review case<\/p>\n

Arguments have begun at the supreme court. <\/strong>First up is Noel Francisco, TikTok\u2019s lawyer, who\u2019s arguing that the US should halt the ban. He\u2019s trying to convince the judges that the law passed by Congress last spring infringes on TikTok\u2019s freedom of speech.<\/p>\n

Francisco said this isn\u2019t about TikTok being a national security threat, but instead \u201cthe government\u2019s real target, rather, is the speech itself.\u201d He concluded his short opening statement saying, \u201cIn short this act should not stand.\u201d<\/p>\n
