People often say something like, \u201cOh, I don\u2019t really play games,\u201d which is surely an odd thing to tell a game designer moments after you\u2019ve been introduced; I don\u2019t really eat croissants, but that\u2019s not the first thing I bring up if I meet a patissier.<\/p>\n<p>So one of the joys of publishing my first novel last year was the option to sidestep all of that, and say: \u201cOh, I\u2019m a writer.\u201d I wrote a novel; I\u2019m working on another one; job done, the conversation can move on.
