Formerly an RTE television producer, she has written two collections of stories, published together as <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/books\/2009\/mar\/07\/yesterdays-weather-anne-enright-review\">Yesterday\u2019s Weather<\/a><\/em>, one book of essays and seven novels, including the 2007 Booker prize-winning <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/books\/2007\/oct\/16\/bookerprize2007.thebookerprize6\">The Gathering<\/a><\/em> and <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/books\/2011\/may\/01\/forgotten-waltz-anne-enright-review\">The Forgotten Waltz<\/a><\/em>, which was awarded the Andrew Carnegie medal for excellence in fiction. In 2015, she was named the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/books\/2015\/jan\/29\/anne-enright-irelands-first-fiction-laureate\">inaugural laureate for Irish fiction<\/a>.
