Economic inequality has reached a staggering milestone in Silicon Valley: just nine households hold 15% of the region\u2019s wealth, according to new research from San Jose State University. A mere 0.1% of residents hold 71% of the tech hub\u2019s wealth.<\/p>\n

The findings come from the 2025 \u201cSilicon Valley Pain Index<\/a>\u201d, a report published by SJSU\u2019s Human Rights Institute each year since 2020. The report aims to quantify \u201cstructured inequalities\u201d in Silicon Valley, and measures \u201cpain\u201d as \u201cboth personal and community distress or suffering\u201d.<\/p>\n
