China\u2019s Tencent has cracked down on how long children can play its flagship video game, hours after an article in state media described online gaming as \u201cspiritual opium\u201d and compared it to \u201celectronic drugs\u201d, sending its shares sliding.<\/p>\n

The article in the Economic Information Daily (EID), which is affiliated with China\u2019s biggest state-run news agency Xinhua, called for more restrictions on the industry to prevent \u201cwidespread\u201d addiction among children.<\/p>\n
