Attorneys for Tennessee told a jury in Nashville that Meta, which owns Instagram and Facebook, disregarded internal research about its platform\u2019s impact on teenagers, while the company sought \u2060to maximize profit from those young users.<\/p>\n<p>During \u2060opening statements in a seven-week \u200btrial in state court, the state\u2019s lawyers said Meta researchers repeatedly flagged teenagers\u2019 compulsive use of the platform \u2013 leading to eating disorders, depression and self-harm.
