The New York-based photojournalist had covered many serious situations, but what he saw in Mogadishu \u2013 \u201cthousands of children dying in desert hospitals, without food or water, without anything\u201d \u2013 is something, he says, that he will never forget.<\/p>\n<p>Fatemi returned to east Africa the following year with a group of Iranian photographers to focus on the lives of the refugees fleeing not only the conflict but also the drought and the flooding.
