Six hours\u2019 drive away in Detroit, home of the US auto industry for more than 100 years, they are not so sure.<\/p>\n<p>The town gained international attention earlier this month after the Amazon-backed Rivian, an electric vehicle startup, went public in one of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/environment\/2021\/nov\/10\/bezos-rivian-world-biggest-ipos-shares-electric-carmaker-ford-general-motors-stock-market-debut\"> biggest stock market debuts<\/a> since Facebook.
