A Ukrainian man who converted almost all his family\u2019s money into the crypto \u201cstablecoin\u201d terra in April in an effort to protect against the risks of invasion or currency collapse has lost almost $10,000 (\u00a38,000) after its sudden demise.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was impossible and unsafe to store funds in the form of banknotes,\u201d said Yuri Popovich, who lives in Kyiv. Cryptocurrencies advertised as safe and \u201cbacked with fiat currency\u201d suggested another option.<\/p>\n
