It was called <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Clubhouse_(app)\">Clubhouse<\/a> and described as a \u201csocial audio\u201d app that enabled its users to have real-time conversations in virtual \u201crooms\u201d that could accommodate groups large and small. For a time in that disrupted, locked-down spring, Clubhouse was what Michael Lewis used to call the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/books\/2000\/oct\/22\/robertmccrum\">\u201cNew New Thing\u201d<\/a>. \u201cThe moment we saw it,\u201d<a href=\"https:\/\/a16z.com\/2021\/01\/24\/investing-in-clubhouse\/\"> burbled Andrew Chen<\/a> of the venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz, \u201cwe were deeply excited.
