Look no further than the iconography of Doom, or Tim Schafer\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/technology\/gamesblog\/2009\/oct\/19\/brutal-legend-xbox-ps3-review\">Br\u00fctal Legend<\/a>, for evidence of that. But it was in the mid 00s \u2013 during the reign of music and rhythm games such as Guitar Hero \u2013 that the link was most obvious. Count me among the ranks of those who learned about Pantera and Megadeth by way of the plastic instrument.<\/p>\n<p>Which is why this year\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/store.steampowered.com\/app\/1061910\/Metal_Hellsinger\/\">Metal: Hellsinger<\/a> is on my radar. The game is a cross between a first person shooter and a rhythm game: by matching your shooting to the tempo of the music, you build a score multiplier that increases the damage you deal.
