Billionaire blames financial woes on activist groups \u2018trying to destroy free speech in America\u2019<\/p>\n

Twitter temporarily closed its offices and cut workers\u2019 access to internal systems on Friday as it began laying off staff, a week after the billionaire Elon Musk took over the social media platform.<\/p>\n

The firings came as Musk tweeted that the company had experienced \u201ca massive drop in revenue, due to activist groups pressuring advertisers, even though nothing has changed with content moderation and we did everything we could to appease the activists. Extremely messed up! They\u2019re trying to destroy free speech in America.\u201d<\/p>\n
