Elon Musk has been urged by the UN to make respect for human rights central to Twitter after suggestions that as many as half of its more than 7,500 staff<\/a> could be sacked.<\/p>\n

In an open letter<\/a>, Volker T\u00fcrk, the UN high commissioner for human rights, said that reports of the new owner laying off the platform\u2019s entire human rights team were \u201cnot, from my perspective, an encouraging start\u201d.<\/p>\n
