He estimated <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/amazons-jeff-bezos-looks-to-the-future\/\">at the time<\/a> that air-dropped packages were \u201cfour, five years\u201d away. Nearly a decade later, the service is promised to begin by the end of this year \u2013 albeit in only two locations in the US.<\/p>\n<p>According to David Carbon, an Australian expat and vice-president of the firm\u2019s drone delivery division, Amazon wants to deliver 500m packages annually by drone from 2030.
