Molly Russell\u2019s father has called for a stronger UK online safety bill, including criminal sanctions for tech executives who endanger children\u2019s wellbeing, after criticising social media platforms\u2019 responses to a coroner\u2019s report on his daughter\u2019s death.<\/p>\n

Ian Russell said the inquest into the death of Molly, 14, was a \u201cunique\u201d opportunity for the tech industry and government to make online platforms safer. A coroner ruled in September that harmful online content contributed to the death of Molly<\/a>, stating that she \u201cdied from an act of self-harm whilst suffering from depression and the negative effects of online content\u201d.<\/p>\n
