It\u2019s going to end or improve the world, depending on your optimism\/pessimism. The latest hullabaloo was triggered by the release of <a href=\"https:\/\/openai.com\/blog\/chatgpt\" title=\"\">ChatGPT<\/a> \u2013 the progression of so called generative AI, which doesn\u2019t just analyse data but actually creates new content (in this case written text).<\/p>\n<p>There\u2019s been lots of speculation of what this might mean for education (the end of coursework?), but my focus is on the implications for the labour market. Now the first serious <a href=\"https:\/\/economics.mit.edu\/sites\/default\/files\/inline-files\/Noy_Zhang_1.pdf\" title=\"\">research<\/a> on that front has arrived.
